Sabía que algo estaba haciendo mal...
I knew I was doing something wrong.
(there's a home-made translation to my non-Spanish speaker readers)

Have dinner ready. Plan ahead of time to have a delicious meal ready for when he comes back. This is a way of letting him know that you have been thinking about him and are concerned about his needs. Most men are hungry when they get home. |
Look beautiful! Take 5 minutes to rest before he gets home so you'll look refreshed and radiant when he arrives. Touch up your make-up, put a ribbon in your hair and look your best for him. Remember he has just had a hard day and that he has just been with workmates. |
Be sweet and interesting for him. His boring day may need a lift and one of your duties is to do your best to make it happen. One of your duties is to take his mind off his worries. |
Clean up your house. It has to look immaculate. Make one last trip through the main parts of the house just before your husband arrives. Pick up school books, toys, etc. Run a feather duster over the tables. |
Get the children ready.
Brush their hair, wash their hands and change their clothes if necessary. They are his little treasures and he would like to see them looking neat and tidy. |
Make him feel in heaven.
During the cooler months of the year you should prepare and light a fire before he gets home. Your husband will feel he has reached a haven of rest and order, and this will give you a lift too. After all, catering to his comfort will provide you with immense personal satisfaction. |
Minimize all the noise. At the time of his arrival, turn off the washing machine, dryer or vacuum. Encourage the children to be quiet. Think about all the noise he must had to put up with during his tedious day at the office. |
Try to look happy.
Greet him with a warm smile and show sincerity in your desire to please him. Your happiness is the reward for his daily effort. |
Listen to him. You may have a dozen important things to tell him, but the moment of his arrival is not the best time to do talk about them. Let him talk first. Remember his issues are more important than yours. |
Put yourself in his shoes.Don't complain if he's late for dinner, if he goes out for fun without you or even if he stays out all night. Try to understand his world of commitments and his true need to feel relaxed at home. |
Don't complain!
Don't flood him with insignificant problems.
Any of your problems is just a little detail compared to everything he must have gone through. |
Make him comfortable. Let him lean back in a comfortable chair or lie down in the bedroom. Have a hot drink ready for him. Arrange his pillow and offer to take off his shoes. Speak in a low and pleasant voice. |

A good wife always knows her place. |
Parece un chiste pero no lo es. Es la "Guía de la Buena Esposa" de 1955. ¿España franquista quizás? Imperdible.
It looks like a joke but I assure it is not. It's the "Guide for the Good Wife" that appeared in 1955. Maybe Franco's Spain?
Not to be missed.
